1. Where did you draw the inspiration for your photographic project “Persona”? What happens when we finally put on a mask?

For centuries, people have tried to understand different aspects of a person’s character simply by observing their face. Ancient Chinese philosophy believed that the face is a reflection of our inner world. According to Carl Jung, personality is shaped by the interaction of internal and external forces. One of our most defining characteristics is the Persona: our public personality, the parts of ourselves that we reveal to others.

It is the mask behind which we live, adopting the roles and traits connected to the position we hold, especially in our professional environment, depending on the image we wish to present in each interaction with our colleagues. Working conditions are often difficult and exhausting, and as a result, not only can our productivity and sense of teamwork be affected, but we also feel compelled to hide parts of ourselves, avoiding the exposure of our inner truth. This creates distance between people.

With those around us, we construct an artificial personality that often clashes with our deepest instincts, leading us into conflict both with ourselves and with others, as we try to convince them of something we are not.

2. How do you perceive your relationship with the art of photography? Has it always felt natural to you?

My relationship with photography began when I was very young. It was such a natural part of my childhood experiences that it felt inevitable for me to eventually cultivate it as an art form and grow to love it even more deeply.

3. Has your photographic journey influenced your everyday life and the way you see the world?

It has greatly influenced my everyday life and has changed the way I see the world around me. Sometimes I see it in color and sometimes in black and white; sometimes still, sometimes in motion; sometimes loud and crowded, and other times silent.

4. The poetry of an image emerges because what we see contains meanings, words, and emotions. Do you think it is accidental where we choose to focus our gaze? How does it work for you?

Each of us experiences the images surrounding us in completely different ways, and as a result, we receive different messages from the world around us. These messages shape the way we approach photography, which is why the point where we choose to focus in each photograph is never accidental.

Emotion has always guided me and continues to be my compass in life.

5. I know you love the art of dance, which is filled with movement, sound, music, and rhythm. Photography, on the other hand, is still and silent. Do you believe something is connecting these two art forms?

I love the art of dance because, much like photography, it brings balance to my inner self. Both art forms require concentration, harmony, and calmness, and through them I experience a sense of peace and stability.

6. Your photographic work so far mainly focuses on the human element. What fascinates you about human stories?

Every person carries emotions and life experiences that shape their journey through life, and that is what fascinates me about people. Through photography, I try and aspire to capture each person’s relationship with the outside world, the way they discover themselves, and the essence of their inner emotional state.
