On January 11, 2025, the Zosimaia Academy will host the photography exhibition of acclaimed photographer Stavros Protopapas, titled “Flana”.
The exhibition focuses on street photography, capturing with a unique perspective the movement and expressions of people within the urban environment. Through Stavros Protopapas' lens, everyday life transforms into art. The photographer takes advantage of high shutter speeds, freezing moments that are difficult for the human eye to perceive — "decisive moments" that blur the boundaries between good and poor composition, between classical and modern photography.
Using shadow as a tool, the images gradually obscure the elements of place and time, guiding the viewer to a deeper appreciation of movement. The absence of recognizable facial features strips the scenes of specific identities, preserving only the essence of motion and the fleeting sense.
The exhibition promises to transport the audience to a world where shadow and light intersect with urban life, creating images of meaning and emotion.
